Opera Grand Rapids: Hip Opera
Gold. Multi-Platinum. Diamond. This year’s Night with the Opera promises to be certified epic.
The evening will feature Opera Grand Rapids’ popular Hip Opera. Launched in early 2024, the program is a love letter from opera to Hip Hop. Audiences learn about the many similarities between the genres and hear covers of popular hip hop songs fused with opera favorites.
After a private gala and fundraiser for our sponsors and donors, we’re opening the doors to the public for the main event!
In our effort to be authentic, Hip Hop selections will be performed with unedited lyrics which include profanity. Please note that this show may not be suitable for young audience members.
